Hometown: Prince Edward County, ON

Club Affiliation: Kingston Yacht Club

Age: 30

Mac’s love for sailing was sparked over a decade ago when he first learned to  sail at the  Bay of Quinte Yacht Club in Belleville Ontario.

Mac spent most of his youth racing the Laser 2, 420, and 29er class boats. In 2010, Mac was accepted to Queen’s University and throughout his university career Mac was a committed member of the Queen’s Varsity Sailing team. In his final year, Mac was Captain of the team and led his fellow athletes to two Canadian National Titles.

After completing his university degree at Queen’s Mac jumped into the men’s Olympic class 49er where he spent 2 years training before returning to Queen’s for a second degree.

At the age of 24, Mac was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. This was a challenging blow to morale while finishing nursing school and trying to get a grasp on Foiling. Exercise has become a huge part of managing diabetes in his daily life. Mac is now working as a Registered Nurse with the dream of representing Canada at the first Kiteboarding Olympic Games at Paris 2024.
