Just finished up a really productive and fun training block with the US Sailing Team in Florida.
It started out with a few days of training before a small regatta in St. Petersburg. This regatta was by far the coldest event I have ever sailed with air temperatures of 4 degrees Celsius in the morning. The US team and their coach were kind enough to include me in their training plan for a couple of weeks.
During training we worked on our speed modes upwind and down wind as well some close quarters start line set up. Training with the best riders in the USA was time well spent.
At the end of the training block we had the US Open Sailing Series in Clearwater. This was a Formula Kite ranked event and a good opportunity to compete at the potential venue for the 2023 World Championships.
We had all types of conditions including gusty offshore, heavy wind, and light wind. I was happy with many of my races considering I took some time off between this event and worlds last october.
Results:
Next up is Mexico for a good training block and the Hydrofoil Grand Prix which will have some high level international competition.
